A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Alexander County Clerk’s office on January 14, 2025. The request, made by Southern Illinois News, seeks information about the candidates running in the upcoming 2025 Consolidated Elections.
Specifically, we asked for a list of candidates that includes their names, the dates they filed their candidacy, and the offices they are running for. This request is part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
As a media organization, Southern Illinois News believes in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
