Walker’s Bluff was granted licensure approval to initiate construction for its new casino resort establishment in Williamson County, WSILTV reported.

State Sen. Terri Bryant said she believes the advancement is a step in the right direction for the development of the community.

“This is great news for Southern Illinois. Plus, there was a commitment made to sign a project labor agreement. Which means the well-paying jobs created by this project will stay local,” Bryant wrote in a Facebook post.

Elite Casino Resorts has committed to completing the $150 million construction in a single phase. According to WSILTV, the new location will be responsible for the creation of hundreds of jobs. The company applied for expansion with the Gaming Board in October 2019, but unveiled plans to expand with a casino and a resort in March of this year, a few months prior to the board’s approval.

The establishment will feature more than 650 slot machines, 20 table games,116 hotel rooms, a pool, and a spa. The other businesses set to open inside the location include a water park, retail shop, and family dining outlets such as Ruthie’s Steak and Seafood and Draft Day Sports Lounge, WSILTV reports.
