Administrators in Dongola Unit School District 66 earn an average of $78,667 per year, ranking 782nd out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 4.9 percent higher than in 2016 and 18.9 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 29.3 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district’s size, location and resources, as well as the individual’s level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Dongola School District in Union County enrolled 271 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 90 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
